Kangara was founded in 2017 to promote a model of sustainable agricultural development in terms of social, environmental, and economic factors.As a company, we always believe that organic farming practices positively affect our environment in enormous ways. We strive to produce fertilizer that will provide a balance nutrient supplement per the crop requirement.
Hence, harnessing modern science and technology to develop innovative products forsustainable agriculture has always been our goal. The company spent almost the first two years on research and development of the products. This way company wanted to ensure manufacturing the best quality product with maximum effectiveness. The company never wanted to follow a one-size-fits all fertility program. With the support of a highly-skilled workforce and field expertise, company was able to manufacture a diverse product line that was specially fit for Sri Lankan agro-ecological zones.
Sustainability as a practice is at the core of all KANGARA activities, including our corporate social responsibility initiatives. We employ industrial processes generally recognized as having a low environmental impact, we make products while significantly reducing emissions into the atmosphere and waste production.

Mrs. Tharaka Jayathilake, founder of Kangara Holdings Pvt Ltd since 2017, aims to transform Sri Lanka’s eco-friendly fertilizer sector. With a Bachelor’s in Arts and extensive experience in secretarial work, corporate social responsibility, and governance, she is recognized as a leading woman entrepreneur. Her vision and innovative approach have significantly contributed to the company’s success, while she also focuses on empowering the community for a better future.
Samantha Fernando has over a decade of experience in international trading and banking. As Managing Director and CEO of Kangara Holdings Pvt Ltd, he leverages his industry knowledge and financial expertise, also serving as a financial consultant for international firms. Known for his decisive decision-making and analytical skills, Mr. Fernando anticipates industry trends and contributes significantly to strategic planning. His leadership and vision are key to the company’s growth and success.

Kangara Holdings, founded in 2017, is a prominent Sri Lankan manufacturer and distributor of organic fertilizers, participating in the National Organic Fertilizer Subsidy Program. The company offers certified OMRI-listed and Mayacert-approved products adhering to global organic standards. Kangara represented Sri Lanka at BIOFACH 2025, enhancing its international presence in organic agriculture. Committed to sustainability, it participated in COP29 and initiated a research project with the Rice Research Institute of Sri Lanka to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in paddy cultivation through sustainable practices.
Kangara Holdings participated in the Sri Lanka Pavilion at BIOFACH 2025, a key trade fair for organic products in Nuremberg, Germany, from February 11- 14. Organized by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board and Germany’s Import Promotion Desk, the pavilion showcased Sri Lanka’s organic industry. As one of nine selected companies, Kangara displayed its certified organic fertilizers, meeting global standards. This participation enabled Kangara to connect with international buyers, explore partnerships, and strengthen Sri Lanka’s reputation in organic products, reflecting its commitment to sustainable agriculture and eco-friendly innovations.

They showcased their certified organic fertilizers, connecting with global distributors and sustainability- focused organizations. This participation highlights Kangara’s commitment to sustainable agriculture and promoting Sri Lankan organic products internationally.
